I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site so I can improve it.

  • approximate region (not precise address)

Where possible, I configure Google Analytics to:

c) Embedded third-party content (Instagram & YouTube)

Some pages include embedded content such as:

  • Instagram posts
  • YouTube videos

These services may place their own cookies, which can track usage of the embedded content — even if you don’t interact with it yet. This happens directly between your device and those platforms.

They may use cookies for:

  • performance and analytics
  • security and fraud prevention
  • personalisation (for logged-in users)
  • advertising (on their platforms)

3. Legal basis (UK & EU visitors)

For visitors in the UK and EU, non-essential cookies (like analytics and embedded content that isn’t strictly necessary) generally require consent before being set.

That’s why you may see a cookie banner giving you options to:

  • Accept all cookies
  • Reject non-essential cookies
  • Manage preferences

You can change your choices at any time.

4. How long cookies stay on your device
  • Session cookies: deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: remain until they expire or you delete them manually.

The duration depends on the service setting the cookie (for example, Google or YouTube).
